VICKERY MEADOW LEARNING CENTER LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE

DALLAS (July 1, 2002) - Vickery Meadow Learning Center, has launched a brand new web site as proof that it is stepping into the technology era. The site offers extensive information on classes, volunteers, and donations, as well as answers frequently asked questions in an easy-to-navigate layout. It allows potential donors and volunteers quick access to information that, previously, they would only have been able to find out about by phone. The hope is that the new web presence will spread awareness about the organization so more people can be helped.

"It was something we'd wanted to do for a long time, but we kept putting it off because we knew it would be an expensive venture," said Judy Jacks director of VMLC. "We were holding out, hoping that we'd find volunteers to donate the site so we could spend that money on materials we need for classes, like text books and other learning aids. Lucky we waited!"

The site was donated by Michelle Wettreich, a producer at Richards Interactive, the web development branch of The Richards Group, and Julio Mendez, all-around do-gooder and a veteran programmer with more than 5 years of experience. The site committee was headed up by marketing committee chair Shannon Beeson.

"It was a great pleasure to use my expertise for such a worthwhile cause," said web site donor Michelle Wettreich. "I was a new ESL Tutor volunteer at VMLC when I overheard Judy lamenting over the cost of launching a web site. I thought, 'Wait a minute; I can help with that.' It was so rewarding to know that I was saving VMLC money that could be spent in ways that would more directly benefit the students. They are the ones who truly deserve our praise."
